Why Use the Privacy Advisor?
Checking a device for apps that may risk your privacy is important for several reasons. Many apps collect and use personal data, such as location, browsing history, and contacts, for various purposes. While some of these apps may have legitimate reasons for collecting data, others may use it for malicious purposes, such as identity theft, fraud, or advertising.
By checking your device for apps that may risk your privacy, you can identify and remove those that may be collecting and using your personal data without your knowledge or consent. This can help protect your privacy and prevent your data from being misused.
Additionally, some apps may have vulnerabilities or security issues that could be exploited by hackers or cybercriminals. By regularly checking for and removing apps that may pose a risk to your privacy, you can reduce the risk of your device being compromised.
Using the Privacy Advisor
To get started, from the Main Screen, click on the "Privacy Advisor"
The Privacy Advisor will scan your device automatically the first time you use it and display apps in Risk Categories. Click on any of the categories to view a list of the apps identified.
Click on any specific app for details on why it was identified in a risk category. Note that because an app displays as a privacy risk, there may not be any action you need to take. Carefully consider apps and their uses. If you choose to disable an app, you can do so by clicking "Uninstall App" on this screen.
